Dear Friend,

Please make a generous donation towards life-saving care at Surrey Memorial Hospital and Jim Pattison Outpatient Care & Surgery Centre.  Every dollar makes a difference.

This year’s 25th anniversary has me looking back with awe, because people like you have funded incredible advances in medical technology, research and patient care. You’ve made this hospital a world leader!

This year, the Foundation needs your support to ensure that your community has access to urgently needed technology and updated equipment, such as…

1. Our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit needs four more Bili-Blankets to treat jaundice in premature babies. These blankets use phototherapy to get the baby’s bilirubin levels to come down to normal. It’s such a boost for our tiniest patients.

2. And did you know that with 10 to 12 babies delivered daily, we have the busiest Family Birth Unit in Fraser Health? We urgently need to update and replace our Fetal Monitors which our health professionals use to monitor the heart rate of both mother and baby during labour and delivery.

3. And here’s something you may not know about the children and youth of Surrey. Over 800 visit our Emergency Department suffering from mental illness each year. Thankfully, our Adolescent Day Treatment program helps kids, and your donation is a huge boost toward programs that provide kids with music therapy, recreational therapy and cognitive behavioural therapy to help youngsters develop the skills to manage their mental well-being.

4. Finally, your support is urgently needed today to help us purchase a Radio Frequency Ablation (RFA) Endoscopic System for our Thoracic Surgery department. This equipment is vital in treating cancer of the esophagus, often caused by acid reflux. It removes the top layer of diseased tissue to leave healthy underlying tissue untouched.

All of this equipment is vital to the health of our patients – your friends, neighbours and loved ones. I sincerely hope you’ll take a moment today to ensure your hospital is well equipped to provide you with the most remarkable care.

I know great advances will continue to happen as you share our desire to have remarkable care right here in our community. That’s why I urge you to support the Foundation’s work by making a special gift today that continues to save lives!
